We are delighted to announce that we have been awarded funding through the National Lottery Community Fund to help support people’s mental health through our new Social and Therapeutic Horticulture programme – ‘Growing Well Together’. The newly funded sessions will provide 12 months of support to many people who need our help, and we will be working with other third sector organisations as well as the Local Authority to help identify those people who will benefit the most. The first round of sessions have already been reserved by the Wallich who support people experiencing homelessness in Wales, and it is hoped that those engaging with the programme will continue to grow with us through the coming months.

It is many years since we were able to manage a fully operating Community Supported Agriculture scheme here at Cae Rhug, but it is hoped that through this funding we will be able to get the ‘Sharing Field’ back in production to help this project achieve long term financial stability. Over the coming months we hope to re-skin the polytunnel, build a new fire-pit shelter and grow a lot of lovely food. The field’s design has been refreshed, with new areas planned to incorporate permaculture beds and plants for dyeing in our craft workshops.

So, fancy buying wonderful organic food whilst supporting someone’s mental health? Every box of home-grown loveliness will pay for one person to access one of our Social Therapeutic Horticulture sessions and we look forward to ‘Growing Well Together’ throughout 2024 and beyond!
